Manages P&C food services and fundraising including sausage sizzles, Breakfast Club, and special canteen days for the school community.

The Canteen Subcommittee oversees the planning, coordination, and delivery of P&C-led food initiatives at Somerly Primary School.
Its focus is to ensure students have access to affordable, enjoyable food options while supporting school fundraising efforts and fostering community connection through volunteer-driven programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and operating the weekly sausage sizzle and other food-based fundraising activities
- Managing and supporting the school’s Breakfast Club program
- Working with the school to support the expansion and transition of Breakfast Club toward a five-day service
- Organising special canteen events such as:
- End-of-term pizza days
- Special canteen days
- Icy pole sales and seasonal initiatives
- Managing food procurement, supplier relationships, and stock planning
- Preparing budgets and overseeing financial transparency for food initiatives
- Recruiting, coordinating, and supporting volunteers
- Ensuring food handling, hygiene, and safety standards are maintained
The subcommittee works closely with the P&C Association and school administration to ensure programs run smoothly and align with school priorities.
Through its work, the Canteen Subcommittee supports student wellbeing, strengthens community involvement, and delivers meaningful fundraising outcomes for the school.
